First things first: Shut the fuck up about art theft.
I've been getting a lot of journals in my inbox here recently about people bitching about art theft across DA and websites, and frankly they should stick a sock in it. Granted I might not be able to fully relate to these so-called victims (then again i've had some ideas nicked off me in real life), but it doesn't seem quite a big deal to me. I've seen (and helped ban) some people on this place that do steal art, yet compared to the original artist, they stick out like a nosebleed. The one i encountered stole Doom art and turned out to be a japanese soccer mum.
Most thiefs foul up when it comes down to the fact that they don't know the work anywhere near as much as the original owner, let alone own the original lineart that the artist had worked from. I also find it amusing when people are giving their pictures watermarks\copyright-to-me text on their work when the characters drawn were never copyrighted to them in the first place, in essence fanart.*
If someone did steal my artwork or Psyomaster Ryuken, i suppose i would be flattered, because their saving me the bother of advertising. Then i'd sink a knife in their back and twist it when i find the the guy(s) and prove to his\her goofy friends that i'm the sole creator of that work. Great thing about working in traditional i guess is that i can always rescan my art in a higher res to prove a point, and believe me, i seldom go above 100dpi anyway.
You also got to keep in mind folks that trollers and forum pranksters often pretend to be art thiefs so that's one trap you don't want to fall into.
Bottom line if you're really worried about people running off with your stuff you should just get it copyrighted like i did. Even if it's as basic as mail delivering your work to yourself through special post, it's still prove that you have the original and data that proves you are the creator. Or don't bother uploading it at all and try and get a cartooning job in the real world as soon as possible. At least then you won't be bitching on your journal that Joe Nobody stole my ninja piccy, how your parents are unsupportive, or that fine art students are faggots. Okay this rant was blatantly over the sentence before the previous.
In other news i'm planning to finally do the compo prize art that i promised about a year ago yet i was too much of an arsehole to do it sooner. To try and amuse those who have been patient (WAY patient) i was going to upload the stuff in stages rather than one fell sweep when the artwork is finally done, so that they at least know i'm working on it. I may however only do them in A5, although most people can't tell the difference from looking at the gallery.
So those winners are

, looking forward to doing those as soon as i get to it.
Edit 6/11/07: I was a bit drunk with sleepness and fatigue last night so that rant was not as well thought out as i would have liked it to have been. I stand by most of what i said though i take into account that copyright laws aren't the same in the States\insert-country-here as they are in Britain.
*And yes i do recognise that some people may not be implying they have rights over a creation when they draw them and stick a c logo on it. Don't bug me about it.
Also watched Project A-ko with siblings as of recent, who were more familiar with my comic Shin Project A-ko (the deviation where people commented on the "click to download" pic rather than the flipping comic) and thus it was curious to see them relate to the movie and the comic (what i had done of it). They seemed to enjoy it, whilst not so much for me. However when i said i had gone off Project A-ko i didn't exactly mean "OH GOD I FUCKING HATE A-KO! I'M GIVING IT BIASED UNFAIR REVIEW." To me these days when comparing it to others of its time or genre, it comes off either as a surrealist dadaist film to complement it or a inconsistent set of different scenes, or even simply a watered down version of Lum, Daicon, Ramna, whatever, depending which side you're on. Ultimately i still appreciate it more as a one off compared to it's inferior sequels. 3 out of 5.
Recently i found an analysis of the film i did when i was a a)Project A-ko fan, and b) a Fine artist (WANK). It sounds a bit too full of itself to be uploaded here to be honest. One of the quotes state an (obvious) observation that towards the end of the film there is something quite phallic about a mothership filled with women embedding itself onto a tower HQ mostly filled with men, and give birth to a circus in the sequel. You get the idea.
Anywho i dunno if i said it before but i'm not going to abandon the designs or even the plot from the Shin Project A-ko project, and i wish to use those for other things (namely University projects). Obviously it won't be called Project A-ko and it would be up to viewers to decide whether it is canon to the series. However what i had in mind was to merge it with the Zyshok thing i've been doing, so chances are a lot of recogniseable qualities may be lossed.
Adding to that, in the near future i will upload what i did of the comic with text and all to show how far i got with that one.
