Artist's Comments

Tributing the 20 odd years of the simpsons, the show i've watched since i was little. I've also been meaning to upload a pic of Homer in my style for ages but never got round to doing a good enough sketch, let alone colour it in.

Originally this was going to have the whole simpsons family with it but i thought it looked better with just Homer and Maggie. It does feel nice to do these relaxed, tender artworks from time to time. Apart from that i can always render in more simpsons characters seeing that this pic was also compiled in a higher res with more background.

This pic does of course remind of another pic that's been going around of Homer painted cartoony but with realistic wrinkles and hair and so forth. In any case i've practically turned him into a "horrible freak with pink skin, no overbites, and five fingers on each hand". Ah!

Simpsons by Matt Groening. Art by me. Done in markers, pencils, acrylic paint and photoshop for the rendering.

Following :iconchris-supernerd: 's lead i might dig up loads of old stuff to colour in. Unfinished business you might say.

It's a funny point of view of the simpsons!:)

Very interesting take on Homer there! Sort of reminds me of when Sky did that Live-action version of the intro, and the guy playing Homer looked sort of like that. Maggie has some crazy hair!

It's a good picture, though not my favourite style, it's quite well done. :)

I think the thing I like best about this piece is the warmth of feeling it shows. (As much of a bonehead as Homer can be, he can still manage to dig up some human goodness...)

I enjoy your own stylistic takes on various characters. While this is far away from Groening, they are immediately identifiable. I particularly like your Maggie.

When I first saw this, my intial reaction was to say that Homer looked less good looking than usual, which is along the lines of what I usually say when I see your reinterpretations of classic cartoon characters, but looking closer, I realized he doesn't look all that different from his normal appearance; just slightly more human with more realistic detail. And then I saw Maggie in there, and now I think this is actually pretty cute and that this is a very nice tribute.
